Aim and the benefit of the Patient Safety Practice

The aim of this practice is to diminish the number of Adverse Events when patients come to the hospital, taking into account that patients in our medical specialty could be healthy people (pregnant).
Description of the Patient Safety Practice

To write up a questionnaire based on Modular Review Form (MRF2) but modified, including the special needs that an obstetric patient has because she is usually a healthy patient. This document should include the most frequent adverse events.

Our approach is as follows:
1 -. Using questionnaires (Modular Review Form) MRF1 and MRF2 as base. They are usually used to detect adverse events. These questionnaires have been used in epidemiological studies (IBEAS, ENEAS) of adverse events' prevalence and incidence. This questionnaire is intended for filter by risk.
For example, if a patient has an intravenous, the patient has more risk than if she has not one. Most items of those questionnaires can not be applied in the obstetric patient.
2 -. Studying through a group of skilled gynecologists associated pathologies and obstetric patients that are more susceptible to an event. Take for example, the Preeclampsia, previous cesarean births, etc.
3 -. Making a study to have a well defined obstetric questionnaire which will help to detect patient in risk and keep a strict track of them.
4 -. Having a specific questionnaire to filter obstetric patients, will help us to identify the patient in risk, and it could trigger more strict protocols.
